I’m having chest pain, could this
be a heart attack?

Chest pain on left side, which radiates to arm / neck, that is heavy or dull in nature may be caused by underlying heart disease / blocked arteries. When pain is severe, at rest and feels like a weight it might suggest a heart attack.

My heart is racing,
am I at risk of a stroke?

Racing heart beats (palpitations) come in many forms “flutter / skip beats / heart is jumping out of chest / skips + stops/ all over the place”. It may be fast and slow, regular or irregular or mixture of all.

I have a bad family history for heart
disease, what should I do?

Family history of heart disease (at any age but especially under 50 years of age) increases risk for heart disease, heart attacks among family members.

I am short of breath
during exercise

Shortness of breath can be due to lack of physical fitness or inactivity. However if people become short of breath when walking / more activity, going upstairs , talking, this may represent a new symptom that could be of a range of diseases.

I’m worried about my
swollen ankles

Swollen ankles are most often seen after long haul airplane journeys and hot weather and in those circumstances tend to get better with walking.
